This is Our Story…
How Pet Checkers Began
From Our Own Needs and High Expectations
Pet Checkers was founded in 2013 when we (Vicki Doyle & Ben Doyle) were going on holiday and needed someone to come in and look after our two cats, Freckles and Milo.
Our cats are our babies (and Milo thinks he’s a dog!) so only the very best would do. We knew exactly what we wanted from a pet care company but couldn’t find anyone that could meet our expectations or that we liked or trusted.
So, after paying a friend to look after our cats, we decided to start Pet Checkers and formed the company while we were on holiday.
Since then, Pet Checkers has grown to become one of the UK’s and most trusted pet care companies. Starting out with just the two of us, we have grown quickly and now have six members of staff.
We owe a massive thanks to all of our customers for being a part of our journey – we wouldn’t exist without you and we hope you’ll continue to be a part of our story.

We’ll conduct ourselves professionally at all times. Everything we do is in the best interests of the animals we care for. We’ll never take on a client just for the sake of profit. We will always stand by our beliefs and will turn work down if we believe the welfare of the animals is compromised.
Empathetic
We will treat our clients, their pets and family, our staff and anyone with who we come into contact with respect for their thoughts, feelings and opinions. We will always be there for our clients and their pets during hard times and always strive to be more than ‘just the pet sitter’.
Trustworthy
We will never forget or take for granted the amount of trust you put in us. We will always keep your keys, personal information, possessions and your pets safe. We will vet and monitor all staff regularly to make sure we maintain the high standards we set for ourselves.

Because of nature of what we do, we’re really selective about the people we bring in to work with us. We have a thorough interview process and all our staff are insured and criminal record checked. As a result we have a really good team of people that help make Pet Checkers what it is.
Vicki Doyle
The Boss
Vicki is the reason Pet Checkers exists. The company is her baby and she’s the person who’ll come and see you on your consultation. She spends most of her days in our custom-built salon, grooming the pooches.
Ben Doyle
Jack of All Trades
Ben has helped Vicki grow Pet Checkers into the business it is today. He built our website and runs social media. He also has that certain ‘something’ which makes him especially good with puppies and nervous dogs.
Emma Jones
Chief Pet Carer
Emma is one of those people we wish we could have ten of. She spends her days walking dogs and looking after our client’s pets. Emma has that strong caring streak, which is why everyone loves her.
Emily Dove
Dog Walker / Equine Expert
Emily is fantastic. She’s our equine expert. She rides and trains horses and she’s also trained gun dogs to a very high standard. She’s qualified in animal management and behaviour. Emmy is super likeable and our clients are very fond of her.
Megan Scott
Pet Carer
Megan has degrees in animal behaviour and conservation. Despite her tiny size, she can handle huge dogs with ease, often putting the rest of us to shame! Her abilities and bubbly personality make her a key member of our team.
Dr Hannah Godfrey
BVetMed MRCVS
Dr. Hannah Godfrey doesn’t work with us day to day. She’s busy saving animal lives at Bridges Veterinary Surgery in Cardiff. She does help us write and reviews our blog content though so we can help pet owners all over the country.
